The Caney Fork River is known for its beauty and nostalgia. The river is calm and peaceful. Canoes and kayaks glide down the quiet water. Fish swim happily just below the water surface. Fisherman knowingly smile at their companions who are they to do the same as they, and possibly catch dinner. The Caney Fork flows obediently at a slow current so everyone can enjoy what it has to offer.
Center Hill dam is at the head of the Caney Fork and daily, the dam releases water into the river. It is a large structure that is almost breathtaking. Please check the generating schedule before getting on the water.
The Caney Fork is surrounding by many places to see and things to do. The river is just a few minutes from Edgar Evins state park. The park has lodging, a small playground, picnic tables and outdoor grills. Edgar Evins is also a marina so it has a store, a restaurant, and lake access.
Center Hill Marina is just a few minutes in the other direction. It too has a fully stocked ship’s store and lake access as well as a restaurant, lodging, picnic tables, and outdoor grills.

The Caney Fork River is right beside Longbranch Recreational Campground. If you are looking to stay overnight in a more rustic fashion, camping may be exactly what you are looking for. Canoe and kayak rentals can be made by telephone, and after a night at Longbranch, you can float down the water.

The Caney Fork River is also close to the popular Evins Mill. The Inn at Evins Mill is a unique country inn and getaway located in Smithville, Tennessee, near Center Hill Lake. The inn provides guests all the amenities of a resort in the intimate setting of a bed & breakfast. The history of the property known today as The Inn at Evins Mill actually dates back to 1824, when a Tennessee Land Grant recorded it as Lockhart’s Mill. Since that time, there have been numerous owners of the property – the Lockhart, Lawrence, and Webb families, to name a few. The most well known proprietor was the politically prominent Evins family. Edgar Evins was a state senator and successful businessman with a variety of interests, including banking, bussing and oil. He bought the property in 1937 and built the present mill two years later. The Appalachian Center for Craft is a satellite campus of Tennessee Tech University (TTU). The craft center is an 87,000 square foot facility located on more than 500 wooded acres overlooking Center Hill Lake in scenic Middle Tennessee near the town of Smithville. The facility includes spacious studios, retail gallery, exhibitions, administrative offices, library, cafe, student housing and meeting/audio visual rooms. The Appalachian Center for Crafts is a wonderful place to purchase one of a kind souvenirs. Every item in their facility is unique!

Lakeside Resort is a beautiful location for weddings, meetings, or events. They have secluded cabins with all the extras you need. Direct access to Center Hill lake and a 250 seat amphitheater which is known for it's exquisite lake view concerts and weddings.
