During Exploration Days, July 19th – August 17th, we are excited to offer several unique trips that allow guests to explore different sections of the Caney Fork River. These unique trips are offered for a limited time only and are not offered at any other time during the year.

Come for each event and see the entire Caney Fork River! During each week through Exploration Days, we will be offering a different segment of the river which will take guests from Center Hill Dam all the way to the Mysterious Lighthouse in Carthage.

Our first Exploration Days event, scheduled July 19th and 20th and August 2nd and 3rd,  will take guests on a unique and beautiful scenic journey to the Old Historic Stonewall Bridge. Trip options will be a 15 mile excursion leaving at Center Hill Dam at 10:00 am , and a second 9 mile option leaving from Happy Hollow at noon.

Points of Interest along this unique trip:

  • 1800’s Train Bridge filmed in the movie The Green Mile
  • Bald Eagles at Goat Mountain
  • Yuchi Caverns – Used by Native Americans and Civil War Soldiers
  • Seabowisha Valley – Location of the old Plantation and River Hotel
  • Stonewalls Historic Bridge

On this trip guests will paddle under the old 1800’s train bridge that was filmed in the movie the Green Mile with Tom Hanks. From there guests will continue downstream where they may see Bald Eagles nesting near Goat Mountain! Yuchi Caverns as well as the Lost Mines can be seen from the river along this excursion.

Traveling further downstream from Betty’s Island guests can see the location of the old Seabowisha Plantation and River Hotel in Castaway Cove.

The trip ends at the Historic Stonewall Toll Bridge built in 1901, famous for its unique 90 degree turn.
