Spring Is Coming! Anyone else ready to be on the water?! With spring less than three weeks away, we wanted to share a sneak peek of some of the exciting changes at Canoe the Caney! You may have heard that in addition to our wonderful day trips to Happy Hollow and Betty’s Island, we have several new events that we will be introducing this year, including the Pirate’s Dinner and Sunset River Paddle. Of course, we will still be featuring our popular favorites like the Waterfall Excursion and the Haunted Canoe Trip as well.
As excited as we are about our new events, we have even more exciting news to share! We started Canoe the Caney because we love the outdoors, being in nature with friends and family, and just soaking in the peace and joy that comes from nature. Each year we have always taken our Corporate Responsibility seriously by initiating river clean-ups, crew “clean sweeps,” and river etiquette education. This year, we are inviting you all to be a part of a bigger, more impactful initiative!
Today is World Wildlife Day and we thought it would be the perfect day to announce our new, three-part initiative.
Conservation Education
Wildlife Sponsorship Program
Youth Initiative
Conservation:
Rivers are an essential part of life for people, wildlife, and their habitat. We all want to do our part to conserve, protect, and enjoy these amazing natural resources. Part of conservation is education and the other part is the love of the resource. We are very fortunate that the Caney Fork River is a beautiful, pristine river. We think it is kept that way because people like you care. So, remember, if you see any debris or litter, please gather it up and take it with you. As always, we will collect it when we pick you up. Our guests are awesome! And we know that whatever you take with you down the river, you’ll bring back. We always want to leave the Caney Fork River better than we found it.
Wildlife Sponsorship Program:
In honor of World Wildlife Day, we will be joining the World Wildlife Fund by sponsoring a symbolic species adoption each month beginning April 1st. You can help us choose our monthly WWF sponsorships on Facebook! We are also joining local state parks in the coming months for wildlife sponsorships and we have some exciting programs developing for federal partnerships as well. We’ve been busy!!
For March, we chose a familiar face that many of us have enjoyed seeing play in our river. In recognition of the North American River Otter, we have joined in a Corporate Membership with the Tennessee Aquarium with a focus on their River Otters and River Conservation.
Youth Initiative:
We have always been proud of getting our youth outdoors and on the water.
By creating fun family memories of camping, hiking, and canoeing, our parents helped instill the love of nature in us at a young age and now we want to do our part to make sure that continues for all future generations. Being outdoors provides many benefits and opportunities to our children! It helps them build confidence, promotes creativity, and helps teach responsibility and understanding for living things. There is so much more to come on our youth initiatives this summer, so stay tuned for upcoming announcements!
From Our Staff: Thank you for all the years of support, laughter, and letting us be a part of your family adventures! We all look forward to seeing you all on the water and we hope you are excited as we are about going a step further in conservation, wildlife protection, and youth involvement!
